7th January 2015, landed back in Kuala Lumpur from Penang. Stayed at Sri Enstek Hotel Klia which was about a 15min ride from the airport. A great and clean hotel which offers a 24h transfer from and to the airport. Even a complimentary boarding pass print out and flight information at the hotel lobby screens.

8th January 2015, it’s time to leave Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur and heading back to Cebu and the Philippines again. Wuuuuhoooo! I was lucky to book a promo flight (187.00 MYR without luggage is a real bargain for a 4 hour flight.) direct and nonstop from Kuala Lumpur to Cebu with Air Asia.  If you wanna travel straight to Cebu to avoid Manila’s airport  it’s not that easy to find direct flights (There are just a few available flights (from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul).

And yes also this time I was asked at the check in if I have a return or onward ticket from the Philippines. Had to show the proof, my onward ticket to Hongkong end of January. Finally everything went fine.

In Cebu I met Emelyn again. Happy to see her again. Since  my last visit in Cebu passed already 1.5 months. We spent a couple of days in Cebu before we left towards Puerto Princessa. During that January days, Cebu was packed because of the Sinulog festival. Even the hotel prices increased a lot during that time. So book your accomodation early during Sinulog and expect more noise as usual.

If you are travelling in the Philippines, always try to book a little bit ahead and follow/like the low cost airlines (especially Cebu Pacific Air) on Facebook soyou will not miss any promos. Example: Booked about 1-1.5 months before departure a return promo flight from Cebu to Puerto Princesa with Cebu Pacific incl. luggage for only 2’800PHP. Awesome! Of course, if you are travelling in the Philippines, always expect delayed flights and don’t book any connection flights straight after arrival! If you have to, calculate a big gap between arrival and departure. But who wanna complain that much if you are only paying a couple of Pesos? :-)

Arrived in Puerto Princessa, we took a trike until we reached after a short ride our accommodation, Teofila Pension.

The first 2 nights we stayed in Puerto Princessa before heading to El Nido for 5 days and in the end stayed again one more nightback in Puerto Princessa. In the city of Puerto Princessa itself isn’t a lot to do. There are a couple of restaurants and banks and also ATM’s. IMPORTANT: If you are going to El Nido you HAVE to withdraw your money in Puerto Princessa. In El Nido aren’t ANY ATM’s! We planned to book the Underground River tour for the next day but we already were to late for the permission so we decided to attend the Honday Bay daytour at 1’300PHP/person.

In the morning we had a pick up to the pier where we started our Honda Bay tour. On the way to the pier it was possible to rent snorkeling gear, but in my opionion, it wasn’t really worth it for the price. While snorkeling there wasn’t a lot to see around. During our Honda Bay daytrip we stopped at Luli Island, Starfish Island and also Cowried Island. It was a great day and even the lunch was included in the price.

The Honda Bay daytour was a lot of fun with nice memories. All worth the price. Unfortunately we only had one full day in Puerto Princessa so we are already moving the next day by minivan to El Nido. The fare for a minivan one way ticket from Puerto Princessa to El Nido was around 500-600 PHP. Calculate with a break between 5-6 hours. There are a couple of connections everyday. Avoid the bus, it’s just slightly cheaper but is much more time consuming.

Thanks for reading, see you soon in El Nido/Palawan! :-)
